Samsung Galaxy S3 vs. Apple iPhone 4S—Samsung wins

The Samsung Galaxy S3, which this columnoriginally wrote a negative review about due to testing a defective unit, is the smartphone to beat in July of 2012. Will that change when Apple releases the iPhone 5 in October? Perhaps! But the best Apple has right now is the iPhone 4S, which is still an excellent phone. Let's compare both of these devices and see why Samsung wins this smartphone war.

Build and design
The iPhone feels a lot more solid and professional. It is also smaller and easier to carry. However, we have to give credit to Samsung for building such a huge phone that has a 4.8-inch screen, but feels as light as a feather. The iPhone 4S has a square body, while that of the Samsung Galaxy S3 is somewhat curved. A lot of commendable effort went into building both of these phones, but the Galaxy S3 just feels better.

Screen
The iPhone 4S has a 3.5 inch LED screen with a 960 x 640 pixel resolution. The Samsung Galaxy S3 has a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED screen with a 1280 x 720 pixel resolution. Both screens are gorgeous and they set the standard for future smartphones. But the Galaxy S3 screen looks like an actual picture. It is so perfect that you don't even think you are looking at a screen. Apple's next screen may be better, but Samsung wins this round for now.
